The album peaked at number thirty-seven on the Billboard 200 chart. By October 1996 it was certified platinum in sales by the RIAA, after sales exceeding one million copies in the United States.

The album peaked at thirty-seven on the U.S. Billboard 200 and reached the eighth spot on the R&B Albums chart.[1] The album was certified gold in April 1994 and platinum by October 1996.[2]

Jose F. Promis at Allmusic considered the work to be "definitely one of the better R&B albums of the '90s."[3]
